General information, not advice
TollSure publishes general information about toll-free numbers, area codes and unwanted calls and texts. It isn't legal advice, and it isn't a substitute for talking to your carrier, your bank or a lawyer. If you've lost money to a scam, contact the company involved and file a report at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
Not affiliated
We aren't connected to any phone carrier, call-blocking app, phone maker or government body. References to the FTC, the FCC, Apple, Google, T-Mobile, Verizon and others are there to point to sources or to describe features. Their names belong to them.
About the number check
The tool reports facts derived from the number's digits and our area code data: toll-free or not, region, cities and time zone. It can't tell you who owns a number, the carrier, the line type or whether the number is a scam. Caller ID can be spoofed, so even a correct fact about a code says nothing about the person actually calling.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information
TollSure doesn't sell or share personal information, doesn't run advertising or analytics, and doesn't set cookies. California residents have rights to know, delete and correct personal information and to opt out of its sale or sharing. There's nothing to opt out of here, but you can write to [email protected] to ask for a copy or deletion of anything we hold, such as a contact message. See the privacy policy for what is stored and for how long.
Examples, steps and menus
Menu names such as Settings > Phone > Silence Unknown Callers on iPhone or Caller ID & spam in Google's Phone app are described as we understand them on the date of each article. Phone makers rename and move features, so what you see on your screen may differ. When in doubt, use the phone maker's support site for current steps.
No outcomes promised
Following a guide can reduce unwanted calls and help you check a caller, but it can't promise that you'll stop receiving them or that a call you judge to be safe really is. Scams change quickly. A caller who can pass every check on this site could still be dishonest, and a caller that fails one could be a business with a messy phone system.
Links and sources
Links to the FTC, the FCC, the Do Not Call Registry and other sources are provided for reference. We don't control those sites and a link isn't an endorsement of anything beyond the information we cite.
Accuracy
Details such as carrier features and spam labels change. Each guide shows when it was last updated and lists its sources. If you find an error, tell us.
